The ValoClimb

We had so much fun showing off our one-of-a-kind ValoClimb at the Sydney Fitness Show last month, but we know that you couldn’t all be there to experience the fun and to see it in action so we thought we’d take a little time to run you through what makes ValoClimb truly special.

So what is ValoClimb?

Well this unique fusion of climbing, projected graphics, and body tracking technology was designed by Finnish game developers and software manufacturers, Valo Motion, and it is the world’s first augmented reality climbing wall. What does this mean? Well, it means that using ValoClimb is kind of like playing a video game, only your arms and legs are the controllers and you’re hanging off the side of a 5m vertical wall.

What can it do?

What can’t it do would be a better question. If you want to have a go at traditional climbing or test your skills, Augmented Problems is an application that can create an almost infinite number of climbing routes, all with varying levels of difficulty, so that no climb will ever be the same.

If you’re a fan of video games, you’ll love Whack-A-Bat, in which pesky little bats keep appearing all over the wall and you have to reach out and ‘splat’ them in order to win the game. To make matters more complicated the game only gets faster and more difficult as you go.

Or if you’ve got two players, Climball is the way to go. This game which combines all the best elements of air hockey, pinball, and of course climbing, is the only two player ball-game that you can play while climbing. It offers both collaborative and competitive modes making it a real crowd favourite.

But ValoClimb isn’t just for the climbers. Todd Austin (The Highgate Group’s Sales Manager) says that the interactive climbing wall is just as much fun for spectators: “I’ve seen crowds of people gather around the ValoClimb screaming at the competitors to ‘splat a bat’ or beat their competitor. The level of competition and crowd engagement ValoClimb offers is really unlike anything we’ve ever seen in the leisure industry before.”

Who can use ValoClimb?

In short, anyone. As Todd Austin explains it: “ValoClimb is for every fitness level. It challenges professional climbers like no other indoor system can do and converts novice climbers first go. Once you’ve tried ValoClimb, you’ll just want to keep going.”

ValoClimb is also incredibly compact, taking up on 5 square metres, making it ideal for gyms, activity centres, and office spaces. And best of all, ValoClimb uses a cloud based platform to manage the graphic side of things, meaning that it’s easy to operate, requires very little maintenance, and the system is remotely monitored and updated with new games without any fuss.

How can you get your hands on ValoClimb?

That one’s easy. The Highgate Group is proud to be the sole Australian distributors of ValoClimb, and we not only sell the product but we can also install and maintain it. We pride ourselves on stocking only the most innovative and high quality products and ValoClimb is definitely one of our favourites.
